Bio Tour, located on Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu, offers a unique insight into conventional and organic farming, communal lifestyle and innovation in agriculture through biological control.
Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu, founded in 1939 and situated in the Valley of Springs in Northern Israel, is a religious community and the pioneer of commercial organic farming and biological pest control in Israel.
Our Tour will lead you through a variety of topics
Kibbutz Life: What does it entail to live today on a communal religious kibbutz?
Organic Farming: while visiting the fields and enjoying the beautiful expanses, you will hear about the beginning of organic farming in Israel. Driving through the date orchards you will discover the uniqueness of these trees, how they grow and why are there donkeys in our grove.
Biological Control: Sde Eliyahu is a world-renowned leader in biological control. We will expose you to the Barn Owl Housing Project offering a natural solution to rodent population control. You will learn about BioBee, the first biological pest control company in Israel, and a world leader in its field. You will see live samples of beneficial insects and bumblebees, used for pollination.
Tours are 1.5-2 hours long and are conducted in the visitor’s vehicle / bus.
